Staring at the night sky has always been a favorite pastime of mine. As a child I just was amazed at what I could see – and knowing that there is so much more out there made my mind swim and my heart ache to know more. It’s days like today that I am taken back to those raw feelings I felt so many years ago.
NASA has released the highest resolution image ever of the Andromeda Galaxy. The image, if downloaded, takes up over 4.3 gigabytes of disk space and clocks in at 1.5 BILLION pixels. If you are looking for a rental property in Northern Colorado, it is a tough process right now. Vacancy rates show us what percentage of rental properties are available for rent. Anything under about 8% is a tight squeeze (keep in mind that there are some very undesirable properties out there). Here are the stats:
1. Fort Collins 1.9%
2. Loveland 2.7%
3. Greeley 6.3%
If you are having a hard time finding a rental property, this is clearly why. Couple this with desperate renters and high rates, and this market is clearly a challenge for many. How about the average price per month for a rental in Fort Collins?
For a city filled with college apartments, that number is very high and doesn’t look to be dipping anytime soon. If you are a landlord, enjoy. If you are a renter, best of luck. These numbers are trending to a landlord’s favor with each passing year.
Did you know that the same credit reporting agencies that report your creditworthiness sell your information to would be creditors? Experian, TransUnion and Equifax routinely profit by selling your information and in return you get junk mail – specifically, credit card offers. If you are tired of these offers you can stop them!

RUMOR ALERT: Trader Joe’s is looking to open a store in Fort Collins, Colorado.
This is VERY early in the planning stages, but Trader Joe’s has executed a lease to open a store in The Square Mall on College Avenue just North of Horsetooth Road. This comes on the heels of a handful of other prime national retailers have decided to set up shop in Northern Colorado such as Costco and Bass Pro Shops as well as the redevelopment of the Foothills Mall next door.
Maybe the likes of In-N-Out Burger will follow suit!
RUMOR ALERT: Costco is looking to open its first store in Northern Colorado. Location is said to be I-25 and Harmony Road across the street from the existing Super Walmart. The store is in the planning/acquisition stage and could be open late 2014 if approved by the town of Timnath.
This past week has been a trying time for many homeowners and renters along the front range. There are so many details to work out, emotions put to the test and questions unanswered. One of the recurring questions I keep hearing is “Where am I going to live now? Is it even possible to fix my home without a loan?”. This is compounded by the challenge that many people may not have money for a down payment on a new home as they wait for insurance to kick in.
Lenders in my network are working in conjunction with the federal housing authority to offer 100% financing for the purchase of a new home or reconstruction of existing property. All qualified residents who have lost their homes are eligible for this program for their principal residence. In other words, the strict 3.5%, 5% or 20% down payment requirements can be waived for $0.00 down if you have been affected by the flood.
Hopefully this answers one of many questions. If you would like more details, feel free to contact me at 970-391-9331, via e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org or online at www.PropertyByBen.com
Remember that this program is for renters as well, please pass on this information to your family, friends, and neighbors.
Earlier this year it was announced that Northern Colorado will become home to a new entertainment venue called “The Summit”. The center is said to include a 2-story laser tag arena, 32 lanes of bowling, games, meeting rooms and a new restaurant in the 50,000 square foot facility.
This week the developer has turned ground on the venture. Visibility is excellent as the facility is located just East of I-25 on Crossroads Boulevard, so keep an eye on the progress as things move forward! This is sure to be a great addition to the area.
